Ed Mier is CEO of MierConsulting (www.mierconsulting.com), based in northeast Pennsylvania, which focuses on the analysis and assessment of advanced communications technologies and products. Ed has several decades' experience in computer networking, having designed and implemented global and local networks for dozens of user organizations around the world.
He has authored over 200 comprehensive articles on all aspects of networking technology for a dozen leading publications, and which have been reprinted in numerous foreign languages. Ed has been a contributing author to leading industry publications, including VON Magazine, Business Communications Review (BCR), Network World, and a dozen others.
Mier pioneered the side-by-side testing and comparison of hundreds of network products since the 1980's, in companies including Mier Communications (Miercom), which he founded and ran for many years.
Ed's credentials include being a senior network analyst with Datapro Research, managing editor of McGraw-Hill's Data Communications magazine, and a columnist and frequent contributor to many leading industry publications. He holds an undergraduate degree in journalism from Lehigh University and has completed graduate work in computer science and towards an MBA. Ed previously served as an Infantry officer in the US Army.
